16 venues throughout Washington County

April 11 - 18, 2015 at various venues and times. You need to check website below for exact schedule.

Each year the WCCLS Art of the Story Festival draws the generations together from across Washington County and beyond – helping to foster an appreciation for the role that the oral storytelling tradition plays within families, communities and cultures. Art of the Story is a true community festival - attendees follow from venue to venue - building friendships, exploring communities and enjoying each of the 16 customized local performances.

This year the festival features five professional storytellers: Judith Black (Marblehead, Massachusetts), Sam Payne (Springville, Utah), Kuniko Yamamoto (North Port, Florida), Chetter Galloway (Tualatin, Oregon) and Brody Theater (Portland, Oregon).

Admission is always free and all festival performances are designed for the enjoyment of adults. In addition, the performance schedule indicates specific programs that will also welcome children ages 6 and up.

This year, the week-long storytelling extravaganza features 16 storytelling performances (www.wccls.org/festival) at the WCCLS member libraries, the Glenn & Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center, Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club and the new Sherwood Center for the Arts.

We invite you to join in the tradition throughout the week of April 11 – 18; meet your neighbors and enjoy the wonder, mystery and excitement of the return of the oral storytelling tradition.
