Oregon Symphony Presents Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert
This is a past event. Sunday, September 15 at 2:00pm
Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall 1037 S.W. Broadway, Portland, OR 97205
With the help of his new teacher, Yoda, Luke Skywalker grows stronger with the Force, and the Rebel Alliance continues to battle the evil Empire. John Williams’ Grammy-winning, Oscar-nominated score soars, as the Oregon Symphony performs live with the projected film.
By Oregon Arts Watch:
"Oregon Symphony’s popular and fun live-score-to-film concerts -- symphonic film scores performed live and synchronized with the film as it’s projected on a screen above the orchestra -- appeal to a broader, younger audience than the usual classical devotees.
Last year OSO performed the score from the original 1977 “Star Wars” and it was among the most thrilling orchestral experiences of the season, drawing sold-out crowds. This time, John Williams’s daring “Empire Strikes Back” score gets the OSO treatment, with conductor Norman Huynh. If you’ve ever listened to this score in isolation you already know that the best movie in the series also got the best music, rich with new themes and all manner of sonic novelty. "
