Portland Art Museum 1219 S.W. Park Ave., Portland, OR 97205

"Featuring nearly 100 paintings and drawings from the Richard Diebenkorn Foundation, many of which have never been shown publicly, this exhibition is a must-see for fans of this influential, Portland-born painter. Taken entirely from his  early work, the show traces Diebenkorn’s stylistic and technical development, featuring work in oil, gouache, crayon, watercolor and collage. It shows a development of his interests, through representational landscape to surrealist-influenced work to early abstract pieces. The latest piece in the show is 1954's “Untitled (Horse and Rider),” which the Portland Art Museum calls “one of the artist’s first mature figurative paintings.” - Oregon Arts Watch
