What Was Always Yours and Never Lost
Sunday, June 9
Yale Union 800 S.E. 10th Ave., Portland, OR 97214
"Filmmaker Sky Hopinka, member of the Ho-Chunk Nation and Portland State University alum, curates this group show of Native American film and video artists at Yale Union, including a site-specific installation by avant-garde Mexican film collective Colectivo Los Ingrávidos.
A range of visual styles from lyrical (Caroline Monnet) to irreverent (Thirza Cuthand) is represented in this group, but the throughline is an interest in what Hopinka has described as “making space for (Native stories/histories) using these different technologies, while at the same time, not trying to hold them as these ideals of what was lost." - Oregon Arts Watch
